At the 2013 SIHH, Panerai introduced three new flyback chronograph designs under the Luminor collection, among which the most understated yet technically refined is the Luminor 1950 3 Days Chrono Flyback, crafted in robust 44mm stainless steel.
The AISI 316L stainless steel case ensures exceptional corrosion resistance and durability, while the 44mm size embodies the perfect masculine balance between sportiness and everyday wearability. The dial follows Panerai’s historic 1930s design: a sandwich structure composed of two layers — the upper one featuring cut-out numerals and indexes, and the lower one coated with luminescent material for outstanding readability in the dark.
Powering this model is the in-house Calibre P.9100, Panerai’s first self-developed automatic chronograph movement. It adds a flyback mechanism to the foundation of the P.9000, with a central chronograph minute hand that jumps instantaneously every 60 seconds. By pressing the pusher at 8 o’clock, the chronograph resets and restarts immediately — a hallmark of true flyback design. The twin-barrel system delivers a power reserve of 72 hours.
Through the sapphire crystal caseback, the intricate architecture, ruby bearings, and polished bridges of the movement are revealed, while the signature cushion-shaped case and brushed surfaces convey Panerai’s distinctive rugged elegance.
