For watch enthusiasts, nothing is more delightful than appreciating beautiful timepieces, especially antique chronographs that carry the marks of history—these watches have themselves become a part of time.
You should not miss the “Cartier Time Art” exhibition, opening this Saturday at the Shanghai Contemporary Art Museum. This is the first time that classic pieces from the Cartier Collection are fully displayed in China. Visitors can see the first Santos-Dumont from 102 years ago, the “Model A” mystery clock from 100 years ago, the 1928 Tortue Minute Repeater, and more—each representing iconic design of its era.

The exhibition will showcase over 150 Cartier Collection timepieces, including limited editions from the past three years that explore craftsmanship and technical innovation. Examples include the Rotonde de Cartier Tiger Enamel Watch with monochrome miniature enamel painting, the Ballon Bleu de Cartier Parrot Watch with floral gem-setting, and the Cartier ID One concept watch, which requires no adjustment or lubrication.

Exhibition Dates: July 19 – October 12, 2014
Venue: Hall 12, Shanghai Contemporary Art Museum
Address: 200 Huayuan Port Road, Huangpu District

Notably, the exhibition is curated by Tokujin Yoshioka, a Japanese designer who has twice won the I.D. magazine annual excellence award. He also designed the display installations for the Cartier ID One and Cartier ID Two concept watches.

We will provide detailed introductions of each masterpiece from the exhibition over the next week. Stay tuned.
