The most striking element of the design is the off-centered 24-hour subdial, which indicates a second time zone without disrupting the main hands’ legibility. Around the dial, 12 subtle apertures sit behind each hour marker, forming the annual calendar display: the red indicator beneath each marker corresponds to the current month (for instance, a red window at 8 o’clock shows August).
At the heart of the watch is the Rolex Calibre 9001, offering 72 hours of power reserve. This movement allows for intuitive adjustments via the Ring Command bezel — the fluted bezel rotates counterclockwise through three positions, each controlling the date, local time, or reference time, in combination with the winding crown.
Recent models from Baselworld introduced new dial colors and strap options, such as the white gold model with a black dial and leather strap, a sleek update to the 2012 original.
While opinions on its bold 42 mm size remain divided, the Sky-Dweller is undeniably functional, luxurious, and ideal for frequent travelers who cross time zones regularly.
