Cartier has just released the fourth pre-launch piece for SIHH 2015 — the Rotonde de Cartier Astrotourbillon Skeleton, a skeletonized version of the 2011 Astrotourbillon model. This watch continues to feature Cartier’s in-house Calibre 9461 MC movement.

The 47mm case is crafted in 18K white gold and has a thickness of 15.5mm, making it a sizable timepiece. The entire dial is skeletonized, with only Roman numerals at 12 and 6 o’clock for the time indications. The crown design follows the traditional Rotonde de Cartier style.

While traditional tourbillons rotate around their own axis, Cartier’s Astrotourbillon rotates around the entire movement, making it more complex and visually striking. Notably, the Calibre 9461 MC movement is a significant piece in Cartier’s collection of in-house complex movements, first introduced in 2010 as one of the early works in their Fine Watchmaking collection.

The watch has a vibration frequency of 21,600 vph and a 48-hour power reserve. The official price has yet to be announced.
