Hermès introduced this new artistic dial timepiece in 2022—the “Arceau Tyger Tyger” Moon Phase watch. Its design is inspired by the identically named Hermès silk scarf, employing hand miniature painting and marquetry craftsmanship to depict a powerful tiger hiding within bushes and flowers on the dial.

The new creation uses an aventurine dial to create a starry night sky. The moon phase display at 11 o’clock cleverly integrates into the scene. The distant flowers and bushes are rendered using hand-applied lacquer painting, with each color step requiring firing to set the hue, resulting in exceptional depth and layers.

The “tiger” crouching in the lower right of the dial is crafted using wood marquetry. A total of 235 miniature wood pieces are inlaid and assembled, with the natural grains of different woods forming the lifelike stripes of the tiger’s fur. Each piece of wood requires manual cutting, sanding, coloring, and inlaying, with the complete process taking 7 days.

The 38mm white gold case is paired with a diamond-set bezel. It is powered by the H1837 self-winding movement. The movement’s base plate and rotor are decorated with the “H” emblem. It operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a 50-hour power reserve.

Paired with a blue alligator leather strap, this piece is a limited edition of 24. The official price is €85,500.
