The renowned Swiss professional watchmaking brand Omega auctioned 11 sets of the “Mission to Moonshine Gold” MoonSwatch travel case collections on Sotheby’s website, achieving a total hammer price of nearly 4.4 million RMB (534,670 Swiss Francs). The proceeds will support Omega’s long-term partner, Orbis International.

Held from February 12th to 24th, each uniquely conceived travel case contained the complete set of 11 “Mission to Moonshine Gold” watches from the collaborative collection by Omega and Swatch. This marked the first time these 11 watches were presented as a complete set, and the specially designed MoonSwatch travel cases were also offered for sale for the first time.

All proceeds from this auction will be donated to Orbis International. Orbis is dedicated to combating preventable blindness worldwide. Through various programs and its Flying Eye Hospital, Orbis has provided crucial treatment to millions suffering from eye diseases and has trained hundreds of thousands of eye care professionals in underserved regions globally. Orbis’s mission holds profound significance for children, many of whom, through Orbis’s treatment, see their parents, the moon, and the stars for the very first time. Omega has been a staunch supporter of Orbis’s charitable work since 2011. This auction will further help advance the organization’s vision of making treatment accessible to more people.

Mr. Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of Omega, stated: “This unique auction captured the enthusiastic attention of MoonSwatch collectors worldwide. We are thrilled to donate the full proceeds from this sale to Orbis International. Omega firmly believes in Orbis’s mission to treat preventable blindness, and we are immensely proud to raise funds for their cause and increase public awareness.”

The “Mission to Moonshine Gold” watches are a refreshed interpretation of the BIOCERAMIC MoonSwatch collection. The chronograph seconds hand of each model is plated with Omega’s exclusive proprietary alloy – Moonshine 18K gold – known for its longer-lasting color and lustre, ensuring it does not fade over time. Each watch’s seconds hand also features unique details; for instance, the hand on watches produced in July bears a strawberry motif, created during the Strawberry Moon, while those made in May feature an etched floral pattern, inspired by the Flower Moon. Prior to the auction, the travel case collections were displayed for watch enthusiasts at 11 Omega flagship boutiques globally, located in Zurich, Tokyo, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong (China), Beijing, New York, London, Milan, Paris, and Sydney.

The 11 fortunate winning bidders have now secured their “Mission to Moonshine Gold” travel case collections. Omega extends its sincere gratitude to everyone who participated in the auction and showed their strong support for the charitable work of Orbis International.
