To celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Maison, Piaget has unveiled the Polo 79, a yellow gold timepiece that faithfully revives the design of the original 1979 Polo. The watch features an entirely integrated gold case and bracelet, powered by the new ultra-thin automatic Caliber 1200P1. Luxurious and instantly recognizable, it embodies the bold elegance of Piaget’s golden era.
Crafted entirely in 18K yellow gold, the case size has been increased from 34mm to 38mm to better suit contemporary tastes. The case construction is notably intricate—milled from a single block of gold, then satin-brushed and hand-polished before being fitted with mirror-polished gold gadroons. This labor-intensive process enhances both the watch’s depth and its luminous visual presence.
The solid gold dial features raised horizontal gadroon motifs that flow seamlessly into the case design. Round gold dots mark the hours and minutes—the larger ones for hour markers and smaller ones for minute indices. Two brushed and polished gold hands complete the dial, expressing a refined and minimalist aesthetic.
