The design preserves many iconic elements of the 1950s CK-2998 chronograph: a 39.7mm case diameter, vertical lugs, domed crystal, black aluminum bezel, Alpha-shaped hands, and the classic “dot over 90” bezel detail. The stainless steel case features brushed and polished surfaces, while the newly designed box-shaped sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective coating and is stamped with the Ω logo at the center.

The dial is coated via CVD to achieve a gray-blue tone, unique to the original CK-2998. It features a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o’clock, and a small seconds sub-dial at 9 o’clock. All three sub-dials have concentric grooves and recessed profiles for added depth. The central Alpha hour and minute hands and applied indices are filled with deep brown Super-LumiNova, offering subtle contrast against the gray-blue dial.

The OMEGA 3861 manual-winding movement, Master Chronometer certified, beats at 21,600 vph and features a co-axial escapement and silicon balance spring. It offers a 50-hour power reserve, high magnetic resistance, and excellent chronometric performance. The solid case back is engraved with the Seahorse emblem and inscriptions reading “THE FIRST OMEGA IN SPACE” and “OCTOBER 3, 1962.”

The leather strap version has a retail price of CHF 7,100, while the stainless steel bracelet version is EUR 8,300.
