This panther-inspired timepiece brooch is part of Cartier’s 2024 Libre Polymorph High Jewelry collection. Boldly featuring a close-up of a panther’s paw as its design motif, the creation ingeniously conceals a timepiece beneath the animal’s sharp claws — a whimsical and imaginative concept that delights with its cleverness.
The designer sculpted the four panther toes in white gold, pavé-set with diamonds. Black onyx lines accentuate the structure of the paw, while four custom-cut moonstones at the tips form the claws, their natural iridescence resembling gleaming blades.
Hidden beneath the panther’s paw lies a secret watch mechanism: by gently pressing the second moonstone “claw,” the snow-set diamond dial is revealed. The minimalist two-hand display exudes refined charm, with a single onyx cabochon marking the 12 o’clock position.
