This shell-shaped brooch is from the “Treasure Island” high jewelry collection launched by Van Cleef & Arpels in 2024. The front of the brooch features beautiful shell patterns recreated using mystery-set rubies, while the reverse conceals a graceful fairy standing on a white pearl, as if guarding treasures hidden deep within the sea.

The “Treasure Island” collection draws inspiration from the adventure novel Treasure Island by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson. The story follows Jim, a 10-year-old British boy, who, after obtaining a treasure map, sets sail with companions to the mysterious “Treasure Island” in search of adventure and fortune.
The front of the brooch showcases gradient shell textures crafted with red-toned gemstones and diamonds. The center of the shell is adorned with pink diamonds and colorless diamonds, accentuated by square-cut rubies. The edges of the shell are shaped using the mystery-set technique to form a ruby frill, while the outermost border is elegantly embellished with trapezoid-cut diamonds, representing the shell’s delicate spines.

Flipping the brooch over reveals a hidden, graceful fairy. Sculpted in white gold, the fairy spreads her wings and holds an emerald in her hands, poised delicately on a lustrous white pearl as if dancing—evoking the image of legendary treasures concealed in the depths of the ocean.
