de Grisogono Boule “Icy Diamond” Ring

Unveiled at this year’s Baselworld, this diamond ring from de Grisogono’s Boule collection draws inspiration from the elegant geometry of the sphere. The design is built upon a honeycomb structure, intricately set with Icy Diamonds and brilliant-cut diamonds, merging the subtle frost-like glow of the former with the dazzling fire of the latter.

Icy Diamonds are characterized by their visible inclusions, which diffuse light within the stone and create a soft, frosted appearance reminiscent of ice. These gems fall outside traditional 4C grading and are typically classified as “Fancy White” when free from color tints or strong impurities.

In this ring, de Grisogono uses the honeycomb as the mounting framework: large round Icy Diamonds are nestled within hexagonal cells, while brilliant-cut diamonds fill the pentagonal settings. To preserve the domed contour of the piece, the jeweler employs the grain setting (Grain Setting) technique—tiny prongs are sculpted directly from the metal edges with a graver to secure each stone, leaving behind fine engraving marks that accentuate the geometric precision of the honeycomb.

The inner shank reveals an exquisite engraving of natural vines flowing toward the de Grisogono logo at the center, underscoring the maison’s meticulous attention to detail and signature artistry.
