This exquisite brooch is part of Cindy Chao’s “Four Seasons” High Jewelry Collection, representing the theme of spring. At its heart lies a violet star
sapphire, resembling a flower bud on the verge of blooming. Surrounding the gem are diamond-pavé leaves, evoking the vibrant energy of nature’s awakening.
At the center, the star sapphire—a rare variety of corundum—displays a six-rayed asterism formed by rutile needle inclusions arranged in three intersecting directions at 120 degrees. When cut en cabochon along the crystal axis, the stone reveals a luminous star-like effect across its surface.
Cindy Chao masterfully harnesses this natural phenomenon, using the sapphire’s violet tone to represent the sepal enveloping a budding flower, while the radiant star glimmers through the narrow gaps—hinting at the white petals within.
Encircling the main stone are three white gold leaves and rose gold branches, their delicate curves mimicking nature’s organic forms. Each leaf is pavé-set with brilliant-cut diamonds, with nearly ten rose-cut diamonds adorning the edges like morning dew. The slender, twisting branches are accented with pear-shaped and round yellow diamonds, symbolizing tender new leaves and emerging buds—capturing the poetic vitality of spring in full bloom.
