Montblanc’s annual theme this year is “Exploration”, with the new models inspired by navigation, astronomy, and adventure, paying tribute to the 15th-century Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama. This multi-time-zone watch combines a cylindrical hairspring tourbillon with three-dimensional twin globes, creating one of the brand’s most striking complications.
The cylindrical hairspring, originally used in marine chronometers for ocean navigation, operates more stably and precisely than a flat hairspring. To accommodate it, the entire tourbillon cage is built in an arched structure, giving the mechanism a more sculptural, three-dimensional appearance.
Dominating the lower half of the dial is the 3D twin-globe display, simultaneously showing the 24 time zones of the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. The left hemisphere displays the north, the right displays the south, allowing a complete global time and day-night visualization at a glance.
In addition to GMT time, the watch features a dual-time display — the sub-dial at 6 o’clock shows the home-time, styled as an antique compass, serving as the visual focal point of the dial.
The retail price is €250,000, limited to 18 pieces.
The Montblanc Villeret Cylindrical Hairspring Tourbillon Geosphères Vasco da Gama watch features a 47mm rose-gold case, 15.38mm thickness, sapphire crystal front and back, rose-gold crown set with a mother-of-pearl Montblanc emblem, 18K gold dial, Calibre MB M68.40 movement, 18 jewels, 18,000 vph, 48-hour power reserve, alligator leather strap, rose-gold folding clasp, and 30m water resistance.
