Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Universal Time World Time Watch

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Universal Time is a technically refined world time watch introduced during Watches & Wonders 2015. Designed for frequent travelers, it combines classical geographic time display with a rare and innovative complication — the brand’s proprietary True Beat jumping seconds mechanism.

What makes the Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Universal Time truly unique is that it is currently the only world time watch incorporating a True Beat deadbeat seconds complication. This feature, typically found in scientific chronometers, allows the seconds hand to advance in one-second jumps instead of sweeping smoothly — a tribute to precision instruments used in navigation and scientific exploration.

The 41.6mm case of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Universal Time strikes a perfect balance between presence and wearability, especially ideal for Asian wrist sizes. The slim profile and elegantly curved lugs ensure comfortable daily wear while maintaining a distinctly high-horology aesthetic.

The dial features a classic world time layout with an outer ring displaying 24 global cities representing 24 time zones. By aligning your home city at the 6 o’clock position and adjusting via the crown, users can instantly read the time across different parts of the world — an intuitive and highly functional system for international travel.

Powering this timepiece is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 772 automatic movement, a modern in-house caliber developed specifically for the Geophysic line. Despite incorporating the complex True Beat jumping seconds mechanism, the movement remains well-proportioned at 7.13mm thick.

Its power reserve stands at 40 hours, which, while slightly modest for a travel watch, is compensated by its mechanical uniqueness. The seconds hand’s crisp jumps every second offer a visual experience rarely seen in modern wristwatches.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Universal Time was offered in two case variants: stainless steel and rose gold. At launch, the official retail pricing stood around USD 15,000 for the steel version and USD 25,000 for the rose gold edition.

Among world time watches from brands like
Vacheron Constantin and
Patek Philippe,
the Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic Universal Time stands out for its scientific philosophy and mechanical identity.
