This gold and diamond necklace is from the “Magnifica” High Jewelry collection launched by BVLGARI in 2021. Its design draws inspiration from the futuristic architecture of British architect Zaha Hadid. The focal point of the piece is a central ancient bronze coin from the era of Roman Emperor Nero, creating a striking intersection of classical and modern history.

The “Magnifica” collection finds inspiration in the stories of outstanding women from different cultures and historical periods. The designer used yellow gold and diamonds to create an openwork, geometric form, achieving a sense of lightness and a contemporary feel. Reportedly, the creation of this entire necklace required 1400 hours of workmanship.

BVLGARI began incorporating ancient Roman coins into its jewelry creations in the 1960s, paying homage to the Roman Empire and emphasizing the brand’s Italian heritage. The most captivating feature of this necklace is the central, well-preserved bronze coin issued under Emperor Nero. This emperor, known for strengthening Rome’s role as a cultural capital through the construction of theaters and the organization of sporting games, is often considered one of the Roman emperors most associated with the promotion of lavish living.
