Montblanc 4810 Orbis Terrarum World Time Watch

Montblanc 4810 Orbis Terrarum World Time is one of Montblanc’s most iconic modern travel watches, originally showcased at SIHH Geneva. Positioned as a highly functional yet elegant world-timer, the watch offers exceptional readability, a unique multi-layer dial, and impressive value within the world-time segment.

The watch features a 43mm stainless steel case that balances presence with wearability. The highlight is its sophisticated double-layer sapphire dial, designed to display world time across 24 time zones. At the center of the dial is a detailed map representing the Northern Hemisphere, with each continent precisely shaped, oriented, and aligned according to real geographical positioning. This map rotates in conjunction with the day/night indicator, making the display not only functional but visually captivating.

The first sapphire disk features a translucent depiction of the continents and oceans, surrounded by a ring that displays the 24 major cities for each time zone. The second disk underneath shows the gradual transition from day to night, using dark blue for night and yellow-green for day. Together, these layers bring depth and clarity to the world-time display.

Travelers will appreciate the practicality of the world-time mechanism. When entering another time zone, the user simply presses the pusher at 8 o’clock to align the new city with the red triangle marker at 6 o’clock. This quick adjustment ensures accurate timekeeping across all displayed zones.

At the heart of the Montblanc 4810 Orbis Terrarum World Time is the automatic MB 29.20 movement. Based on a Sellita SW300 and enhanced with Montblanc’s in-house world-time module, it allows for a jumping hour hand that adjusts in one-hour steps. You can read more about SW300 architecture on Sellita’s official page.

Beating at 28,800 vph and offering a 42-hour power reserve, the movement is robust, reliable, and well-suited for daily or travel wear.

Visually, the combination of sapphire layers, a detailed map, and a smooth world-time transition makes this one of the most distinctive Montblanc travel watches ever produced. Despite its complexity, Montblanc has priced the watch competitively — the retail price is US$5,900, making it one of the best-value world timers in the luxury segment.
