This Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Anniversaire 5365 is a limited edition timepiece launched by Breguet to celebrate the 220th anniversary of Abraham-Louis Breguet’s invention of the tourbillon. The movement mainplate is specially engraved with the original patent design drawing of the Breguet tourbillon, paying homage to the pioneering spirit of Mr. Breguet.
41 mm The climbed gold instance is mirror polished and the thickness of the whole watch is only 7 mm the side of the instance is embellished with coin knurling patterns, and the slender lugs and small crown have a retro personality.
The guilloché dial pays tribute to Breguet’s heritage from a craftsmanship perspective – Abraham-Louis Breguet was the first watchmaker to employ guilloché engraving on watch dials. These exquisite patterns not only serve as decoration but also reduce glare for better legibility.
The center of the dial features a “Clous de Paris” hobnail guilloché pattern, while the outer ring is decorated with a “grain d’orge” (barley grain) guilloché motif, paired with two Breguet hands. The off-center hour chapter ring is finished with circular brushing, and a discreet Breguet signature is engraved on either side of the 12 o’clock marker. The tourbillon aperture at 5 o’clock is undoubtedly the focal point of the dial. The blued steel bridge echoes the hour and minute hands, and the inscription “Brevet No 157” represents the patent number for the Breguet tourbillon granted in 1801.
It is powered by the Calibre 581 self-winding movement, offering an 80-hour power reserve. The movement’s mainplate is hand-engraved with a reproduction of the original design sketch submitted by Abraham-Louis Breguet for his tourbillon patent in 1801. The mainspring barrel is also engraved with the anniversary inscription “Anniversaire 1801-2021”.
